If you are not a member and would like to join ASNT or would like to renew your membership during the application process, you will need to purchase membership prior to beginning the application. Join or renew to receive discounted price on your certification application.
ASNT NDT Level III certification candidates are required to pass both the NDT Basic and a method examination in order to receive the ASNT NDT Level III certificate. The examinations can be taken in any order.
Retake Policy - A maximum of three (3) examinations in any Method or the Basic examination is permitted within a two (2) year period.
- A candidate that fails the initial basic or Method examination shall not be permitted to retake the examination for thirty (30) days from the date of failure.
- A candidate that fails the basic or Method examination for a second (2nd) time shall not be permitted to retake the examination for ninety (90) days from the date of failure.
- A candidate that fails the basic or Method examination for a third (3rd) time shall not be permitted to retake the examination for one (1) year from the date of failure and must reapply as a new candidate. In no case, shall an individual be permitted to sit for an examination more than three (3) times in a two (2) year period.
ASNT offers a secure process that allows you to apply online for an ASNT certification, with the ability to upload documents related to your certification, as well as pay for related fees online. Refer to the documents below for more information and instructions.

Do not begin your application until you have reviewed and completed all required documentation and forms.
You must download these documents to complete and save all documents to be uploaded during the application process.
Failure to upload the required documentation may result in your certification application being delayed or denied.
Please note: Once you begin the online application it must be completed all the way through. You will not be able to save and return to finish it. The application process will time out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
